PASTA : NOT A PENNE MORE!

maona.net/img/food/ italian_pasta.jpg

Italians, those pasta lovers who gulp up to 62 lbs. of the staple per head every year, are bouillon in anger as pasta prices spiral up because of increased demand for pasta in the rest of the world, and not least, in India.

In fat, it can be said that the durum rolls of war are being heard.
I can only say in dismay, “Ayo-oyo”. Please wheat for some thyme. Don’t let a fusilli people create a problem. The matter will soon boil over, I azzuri you!
Indians also think along the semo linas. You need official Parmesan if you want to import anything at all. And you better not forget to read the hidden clauses as fine as angel hair. If you blunder, you would need to throw your bowtie aside and shell out a bit of dough.
Anyone tells you different, it’s a lotta baloney.

I think if Italians can get into these political capers, they won’t even let a Polenta into the pasta market. I think we should olive and let l’uva.

  1. Strange. Tamil Nadu has its own form of Pasta. La Semiya Arakkonimiatta

    Of course, Ashok!
And don’t forget that eternal dessert which will be featured on Michelin Mani restaurants as:
“Pasta roasted in butter, cooked with sugar in a thin cream, redolent with Indonesian cashews and other exotic dried fruits; a connossieur’s delight!”
The dish, of course, is ‘La Semia Paysarilla’!
    🙂

  2. Cute, very cute.

BTW, in responding to your comment, Potts won the competition.

  5. That was a saucy piece! If you ask me I don’t want to pay a pesto more. Naah, I am not stringing you along. Penne wise pound foolish, thats what I am.

    Touché, Nita!
    🙂

  6. Lorena Bobbitt agrees, “Of course, not a pene more. One pene was far too many to keep my husband at bay!”

    What penetrating insight!

@Rs.75-155 a pound (depending on the brand and type)

  8. nice picture. do you have a recipe?
    🙂

    Prerna,
    If you are serious, yes.
Please note that I never joke about food.

  9. I would love to try out the recipe if it is vegetarian. It is difficult to believe that there is something you don’t joke about, with the excellent sense of humour that you have.

    Prerna,
That comment of mine was a poor attempt at humor. You know, at a particular level of sophistication (so I imagine), you don’t need to put in smileys and/or have claptracks in the background to make people imagine that something funny has been said. Much of this is said in a very serious, matter-of-fact tone, looking somewhere else….
    Ok, veggie recipes will follow.

  11. Bowtie delightful piece! And it’s not just me, ask Rose, Mary and the Sage. You sure have risotto the occasion. A drilling, weeny exercise, but one can oli admire the outcome. I shall stop now. Parsely because I’m taking your space, parsely because I have little thyme. But I’ll say this – you Penne’s certainly mightier than this word. There, I mis u already 😉

  19. Along with every little thing which appears to be developing within this subject matter, all your points of view tend to be quite radical. Having said that, I beg your pardon, because I can not subscribe to your whole suggestion, all be it refreshing none the less. It would seem to everybody that your opinions are not totally justified and in actuality you are generally yourself not even fully certain of your assertion. In any case I did enjoy examining it. http://www.bararabere.com
